When I was a boy I one day dreamed about being a letting agent. Actually, I wanted to be in a boyband but I guess we can’t have everything. Twelve years ago I left my job as a surveyor and I started my own business as a letting agent. I had no idea how challenging and rewarding my new career would be. Lettings is a fascinating business and, like I’m sure is true of any business, your reputation is built on how you treat people. For me that means my customers, my suppliers and my staff.
I’m very proud of what we have been able to achieve over the last twelve years. We’ve earned our reputation as Edinburgh’s favourite letting agent, we’ve created a comprehensive letting service that goes beyond the needs of our customers at outstanding value and most importantly, we’ve built an excellent team at Umega HQ. In our business, an organisation is only as good as its people and I’m very proud of our team. They are a credit to themselves and Umega and we take every opportunity to tell them how much they are appreciated.
We’ve achieved a great deal. I started as a one man band in 2006 from a tiny office off a side street in Corstorphine. It’s hard to believe that our current team and managed property portfolio is the same company that started from those humble beginnings. However, we know we can still get better. We have a long way to go; more improvements to make, more relationships to foster, more ground to break and much more to be proud of. I’m very excited about the way we do things and where we are headed. I hope you get a sense of that from how we do things and most importantly, I hope you love what we do as much as we love doing it.
