This is a knock-on effect of the current political and economic turmoil having a significant impact on borrowers’ ability to buy their next home.Looking at Rightmove data on the Edinburgh sales market, the emerging pattern is a far cry from the doom and gloom most predicted for 2023 after interest rates started climbing sharply a few months ago. In terms of new listings and offers accepted, there’s plenty of activity in the market to give buyers and sellers confidence for the year ahead. New pricing strategies will be playing a key factor in keeping the market moving but in short; the market is much healthier than many feared just a couple of months ago.

Short term let licensing application deadline date extended till 1st October 2023

The dynamics of the housing market are changing quickly. This is a knock-on effect of the current political and economic turmoil having a significant impact on borrowers’ ability to buy their next home.Licensing came into force on 1st October 2022 for new operators of short-term lets but existing operators originally had until 1st April 2023 to make their application however this has now been delayed by six months. According to Scottish Government this is a ‘one-off six month extension’.
